Facts – SCHAEFER in time lapse

1964 Founding of the company by the engineer Wolfgang Schäfer. The company's first own push button is put on the market.
1969 19 employees. New button generations, for example the first electronic button.
1981 Werner Köpff begins working at Schäfer.
1983 The individual enterprise is transformed into the Ing. Wolfgang Schäfer GmbH, a limited company.
1985 Modular fixture variants are developed. German market share increases to 50 %.
1992 Barrier-free solutions are placed on the market.
2000 Certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001; own quality management system.
2001 140 employees, over 10 nationalities. Bus systems like CANopen, access control as well as Lift Info Systems (monitoring) complete the well diversified product portfolio.
2002 MBA, Dipl.-Ing. Michael Gubisch joins the company. New global orientation, international concepts and product offensives.
2004 SCHAEFER gains additional distribution partners. The export share reaches 50 %.
2005 Werner Köpff retires after 24 successful years, 16 of which he headed the company. Michael Gubisch takes over managing the company. Part of the company's new international orientation is changing the name from Ing. Wolfgang Schäfer GmbH to SCHAEFER GmbH.
2009 Opening of the production and distribution centre in Abrera (Barcelona/Spain).
2012 Solutions for lift car illumination and multimedia applications/touch operation in lifts are added to the range of products.
2013 Completion of the production hall extension.
